Heart Valve Surgery
Preparation
Preliminary examinations required for patients requiring elective care:
- Cardiac catheterization shots
- 12 channel ECG
- Lung function and blood gas analysis
- Doppler ultrasound of the brain-supplying arterial ultrasound (TTE) to assess the pumping and valve function, in endocarditis TEE
- Chest x-ray, in endocarditis with neurol. Symptoms cCT
Aftercare
- Regular echocardiography checks
- Anticoagulation in mechanical valve prostheses INR 2.5-3.5
- For biological valve prostheses INR 2.0-3.0 for 2 months
- Information on the MRI fitness of the valve prosthesis can be found on the respective homepage of the manufacturer (see links)
- Endocarditis prophylaxis (recommendation: Unacid, clindamycin)
Heart Bypass Surgery
Preparation
Preliminary examinations required for patients requiring elective care:
- Cardiac catheterization shots
- 12 channel ECG
- Lung function and blood gas analysis
- Doppler ultrasound of the cerebral arteries and forearm arteries (A. radialis and A. ulnaris, as well as the palm arches) to check the usability of the arteries as a bypass material.
- Cardiac ultrasound (TTE) to assess the pump and valve function
Aftercare
Lifelong platelet aggregation inhibition, e.g. ASS 100mg 1x daily.
Of course, all mentioned examinations can be carried out in our clinic, however, this can extend the waiting time before the operation.
