Minimally Invasive Surgery
In our department, most chest operations are performed as "keyhole operations". The medical term for the operation is called video-assisted thoracoscopy (VAT). Thanks to state-of-the-art camera procedures and special instruments, it is no longer necessary to open the thorax during these operations. The surgery is performed by 1 to 3 small incisions inside the ribcage. For the patient, this usually means shorter anesthesia times, less pain and faster recovery after surgery. Aesthetically, the result is also better.
